The benefits of aloe vera

Everyone's heard of aloe vera ! Perhaps you have some in your garden... In my family, each member has a plant at home “for burns”, and we are quick to cut a leaf and spread the gel on areas reddened by the sun or slightly burnt after a meal...

Aloe vera is something of a magic plant, used for medicinal purposes in many cultures over thousands of years : Egypt, Greece, India, China, Japan... Some of the greatest names in history have already used this plant : the queens Cleopatra and Nefertiti used the plant's juice in their daily beauty treatments, Alexander the Great had aloe vera planted on his carts to treat soldiers' wounds, Christopher Columbus is said to have carried pots of aloe vera with him on his voyages, Hippocrates was a convinced admirer of aloe vera... The Mayans were already praising the virtues of this plant, which they dubbed the “source of youth”, and several mentions of the plant appear in texts from the Middle Ages...

According to the National Library of Medicine (National Center for Biotechnology Information), aloe vera contains 75 potentially active constituents : vitamins, enzymes, minerals, sugars, lignin, sapomins, salicylic acids and amino acids. Again according to the National Library of Medicine, the mechanisms of action of these constituents include healing properties (as I said, in my family, we use aloe vera on burns, but also on stretch marks and damaged heels), effects on skin exposure to UV and gamma rays, anti-inflammatory action, effects on the immune system, laxative effects (in the 1930s, aloe vera was used as a laxative in the USA), antiviral and antitumor activity, moisturizing and anti-aging effect and antiseptic effect.

And that's all there is to it! No wonder this plant is so widely used in skin care!

At Bright and Bio, it's found in many of our products : deodorant for sensitive skin, anti-aging serum, moisturizing serum, moisturizing cream, gel cream, foot cream, micellar water. Each of these products is of natural origin, organically farmed, and respectful of our skin, our health and our planet...

Don't hesitate to try them out - the only thing you risk is getting hooked...
